There is a nice moment at the end of this long, well done slow-motion scene, where the video finally gets to the point. Lost and drunk in the pursuit of happiness, indeed.
I went to a New Year's Eve house party last night, where by tradition there is a talent show. One duo sang this Snoop Dogg track, accompanied by ukulele - and yes, the woman rapped the breakdown. STOLE THE SHOW.
This video was on heavy rotation for me when it first came out. Snoop's transformation from 90's thug to 70's pimp opens up a space through which he can actually dance. A sped up tribute to the beloved sex-funk to which he owes so much, complete with S-VHS in-camera and Video Toaster stylings. It may prove more interesting then much of what he has produced in the past decade.
